Tierpark Chemnitz: Young animals at Easter
Chemnitz Zoo and the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park are worthwhile Easter excursion destinations for the whole family: many of the animal species are currently showing off their young.
In mid-February, four of the Oman's wildcat offspring were born and can now be seen romping around the indoor and outdoor enclosures. This subspecies of wild cat is only rarely exhibited in zoological facilities. Incidentally, although it may look like one, it is not the ancestor of our domestic cat - that is the Libyan Falcon.
The Vietnam sika deer also had offspring some time ago, with a male born in mid-March adding to the group, which now consists of six animals. Next door, the Bactrian camels had a female addition just over a week ago.
Among the capybaras, which are currently still housed in the tropical house, three young animals born at the end of March are scurrying around the enclosure. In addition to the parent animals, the three half-grown youngsters from last year are still in the group.
From Good Friday, the zoo will once again be offering commented feedings. Animal species and times can be found at www.tierpark-chemnitz.de.
Young visitors will receive a small Easter surprise at the ticket office (while stocks last).
