Three new ambulances are handed over

On Tuesday, 5 December at 11 a.m., Mayor Knut Kunze will hand over three new ambulances for civil defence to members of the 25th Medical Task Force at the Fire Service Technical Centre, Carl-von-Bach-Straße 10.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
The three new type B civil defence ambulances will be handed over to the Workers' Samaritan Federation (ASB), the German Red Cross (DRK) and the Altchemnitz volunteer fire brigade. Together with the Glösa and Einsiedel volunteer fire brigades, they form the 25th Medical Task Force, which is organised by the City of Chemnitz. The tasks of the Medical Task Force include setting up and operating a treatment centre, decontaminating injured persons and transporting injured or ill patients over long distances.
There are 61 medical task forces throughout Germany, for which the federal government recently purchased 180 new ambulances of this type. The reason for this is the increased focus on civil defence and cross-state disaster relief. Among other things, the vehicles are equipped with four-wheel drive, two stretchers for transporting two lying patients and emergency equipment for treating thermally traumatised patients.
