Journalist and author Christian Jakob will be presenting his book "Die Bleibenden" on 10 January at 7 pm at the adult education centre in the TIETZ and invites you to a discussion afterwards. Admission is free.
In his book, Christian Jakob describes the history of refugee movements and protests. He also looks at current developments in the European asylum architecture and paints a picture of a modern and open asylum and migration policy in Germany that does not repeat the mistakes of the past. Christian Jakob was nominated for the "Der lange Atem" journalism prize in 2015 for his reporting on asylum policy.
Refugee movements and asylum policy have been constant topics on the political agenda in Germany since the early 1990s. The welcoming culture that is talked about today did not come about by itself and not from one day to the next. It is the result of a long struggle for recognition and human dignity, which many refugees have actively fought for themselves.
