"This one day together"
Nine portraits of women from Chemnitz twin towns - film and discussion on 8 October, 7 pm at TIETZ
As part of the intercultural weeks, Chemnitz filmmaker Beate Kunath will be showing her documentary "This one day together" on 8 October at 7 pm in the TIETZ city library. Admission costs 3 euros.
In English, twin cities are called "sister cities" - this gave rise to the idea of looking for a "sister" in each of the "sister cities", "...to find out whether we are similar, what personal or historical events have had a particular impact on them and how they live." In nine portraits, Beate Kunath traces the experiences of women from the twin cities of her home town of Chemnitz. What they all have in common is their shared birthday on 18 September 1967.
In addition to the filmmaker's aim of making a film about women of the same age, she also succeeds in taking a multifaceted look at living conditions in the various countries... in Finland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, the USA, Russia, France, China... in Chemnitz and in Düsseldorf.
