The winners of the 2024 YouthArtTriennial of the Saxon-Bavarian city network have been announced
Award ceremony on 8 June, 2 pm, Freiheitshalle Hof
On Saturday, 8 June at 2 pm, the winners of the 2024 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian Cities Network, which will be held in Hof this year, will be announced and awarded prizes as part of the exhibition opening in the Freiheitshalle Hof. All those interested in art are invited to attend.
In March, the six-member jury selected the winners of the 2024 YouthArtTriennial of the Saxon-Bavarian Cities Network. The jury members Hans-Hubertus Esser (Bayreuth), Juliana Wagner (Marktredwitz), Annika Weise (Zwickau), Nadine Rothe (Chemnitz), Bernd Rössler (Hof) and Thomas Beurich (Plauen) took a day to view, discuss and evaluate the almost 440 submissions - including 92 entries from Chemnitz and the surrounding area. A total of 276 young artists took part in this year's competition, including 57 young people from Chemnitz and the cultural region.
Bernd Rössler, jury chairman and representative of the city of Hof, comments: "The jury is very aware that behind every work submitted is an enormous achievement and also the hope of the young artists to win a prize. We have tried to deal with this responsibly; we have thought carefully and discussed a lot in order to find the best of the many great works. It's impressive to see how much creative potential is at home in the region."
Peter Nürmberger, Head of the City of Hof's Department of Culture, who accompanied the jury meeting, summarised: "The variety submitted did not make it easy for the jury; there was a lot of controversial discussion and thorough consideration. We can all be very excited about the exhibition."
One main prize - endowed with 500 euros each - goes to Chemnitz, three to Zwickau. In Chemnitz and Zwickau, the winners of the sponsorship awards can also look forward to 150 and 300 euros respectively, as well as an exhibition at Atelier Achtzehn in Selbitz-Weidesgrün. The recognition awards, each with a prize of 200 euros, were given to young artists from Bayreuth, Chemnitz, Hof, Plauen and Zwickau.
In addition, a further 102 works in various techniques have made it into the large exhibition and the catalogue that will be published. The works of 26 artists from Chemnitz and the cultural region will be on display in Hof.
In autumn 2023, young people aged 14 to 18 and 19 to 25 were invited to take part in the most important cultural project of the Saxon-Bavarian city network. At the end of February, they were then able to submit their works to the respective cultural administrations of the member cities to present them to the jury.
The competition project of the six member cities Hof, Bayreuth, Marktredwitz, Plauen, Zwickau and Chemnitz has been successfully realised since 1998 with the aim of promoting young artists and enabling them to perform in public.
The competition for young talent is supported by the savings banks of Bayreuth, Hochfranken, Vogtland and Zwickau.
