"The trees and shrubs in the city of Chemnitz"
Presentation of the new brochure on 13 October, 2 p.m. on Andréplatz
In the presence of Mayor Miko Runkel, the brochure "Die Gehölze im Stadtgebiet von Chemnitz" will be presented on Thursday, 13 October 2016 at 2 pm. The presentation will take place on Andrèplatz, Kaßberg, in front of the largest tree in Chemnitz (in terms of trunk circumference). The meeting point is opposite the André-Gymnasium, Henriettenstraße 35.
The two authors Horst Grundmann and Karl Naue have meticulously documented trees and shrubs in Chemnitz over many years. The compiled knowledge is now available in the "Gehölzflora". The authors have recorded a total of around 3,800 individual tree locations. A total of 732 different tree species can be found in Chemnitz. Of particular note are eight trees with a trunk circumference of over 5 metres. The oldest trees reached an age of up to 400 years.
