The state dam administration - shaping water supply for the future

VHS@home: Online lecture on 13 April, 6.45 to 8.15 pm

On Tuesday, 13 April, from 6.45 to 8.15 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites interested parties to an online lecture on the daily work of the state dam administration. The lecture explores the origin of the water collected in reservoirs and provides information about the water supply for the Chemnitz region. Participation is free of charge.

Registration is possible until 4 pm on the day of the event at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488 4343. An access link will then be sent by e-mail.

The lecture will focus on the sovereign tasks of the state dam administration as a state-owned enterprise of the Free State of Saxony: water supply, water maintenance and flood protection. Using the example of the Freiberger Mulde/Zschopau operation, the dams and their management tasks in Central Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis district will be presented. At the same time, an overview is given of the special requirements for nature and water protection as well as the preservation of historical facilities as a world cultural heritage site. Last but not least, the lecture summarises the effects of long periods of drought. A secure supply of drinking water and the filling level of drinking water reservoirs is discussed, especially in the hot summer months.

This event is a co-operation between the State Reservoir Administration of the Free State of Saxony and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
