The shaft pond in Chemnitz-Oberrabenstein is being desilted
From Friday, 22 September, the draining and fishing of the sheep pond in Oberrabenstein will begin - in consultation with the leaseholder. Once the pond is completely empty, it will be desludged. This involves removing and disposing of 3,700 cubic metres of pond sludge. A large shallow water zone is to be created over a total of 100 square metres in order to create optimum conditions for plants to colonise this area.
Ponds are part of the immovable assets of the city of Chemnitz. For their maintenance and care, desludging is also necessary. This takes place at longer intervals depending on the urgency or condition of the respective pond.
The construction work on the shaft pond should be completed by the end of February 2018 so that the pond can be dammed up again in time for mid-March 2018. It is planned that the tenant of the pond will reintroduce carp and tench.
The costs for the desilting total 80,000 euros. The measure was planned by the planning office M & S Umweltprojekt GmbH, Chemnitz, and will be carried out by the company Container-Dienst Seyfarth GmbH, Grünberg.
