Together with the Freie Institut für Bildung e.V., Chemnitz, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to the Café Philo series of events (summer semester) on "The question of reality in times of facts & fakes". The series begins on Tuesday, 3 April at 7 pm in the Weltecho cinema on the first floor. Admission is free. Registration is requested - by telephone on 0371 4884343 or online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
The political world is flooded with "fake news". Every politically savvy person knows that an empty claim that is repeated often enough and disseminated in the media is real. And on the other hand, facts can be hushed up so much that it seems as if they never existed. If we do not adhere to common rules of communication and argumentation, the common reality disappears. Is it possible to counteract this process?
The question of reality has a long philosophical history. It is the first and most original question of philosophy, which begins with the distinction between what is and what is (in) truth. At present, it seems that the question of reality has entered a new phase as a result of the media upheaval of recent decades.
The Freie Institut für Bildung e.V. would like to discuss this with participants - in an experiential and philosophically reflective manner.
The series comprises a total of four events. The topics of the individual events will be announced shortly before the dates via email, facebook and on www.fibev.wordpress.com.
The dates of the other events are
Tuesday, 8 May, 7 to 9 p.m. at Lokomov, Augustusburger Straße 102
