The office of lay judge - requirements, conditions and principles
Adult education centre: Information event on the election of aldermen 2023, on 6 February, from 5.30 to 7 pm, TIETZ, event hall
On Monday, 6 February, from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m., an information event on the 2023 election of lay assessors will take place in the event hall at the TIETZ. Under the title "Becoming a lay judge is not difficult - but being a lay judge is? ... No, absolutely not!", interested citizens are invited to take on this important task for the new term of office for lay assessors from 2024 to 2028.

Actively and democratically shaping the administration of justice? In Germany, this is possible - among other things as an honorary judge for criminal cases, i.e. as a lay judge at the local and regional courts. The aim of this evening is to provide basic knowledge about the office of lay judge and the election this year.
Marko Goschin from the Association of Honorary Judges of Central Germany (VERM) will provide information on the requirements, conditions and basics of the office of lay assessor. Of course, he will also answer questions from those present.
The event is a cooperation between the non-profit organisation Vereinigung der ehrenamtlichen Richterinnen und Richter Mitteldeutschlands e. V. and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
