The neighbours' festival celebrates its tenth anniversary
City of Chemnitz invites citizens to the European Neighbourhood Festival with a diverse cultural programme
Next Sunday, 10 May, the Festival of Neighbours will take place in Chemnitz for the tenth time. To mark the end of Europe Week, the festival invites citizens to celebrate together at the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and enjoy a diverse cultural programme and a selection of international dishes. The City of Chemnitz organises the Festival of Neighbours every year together with a partner. This year, it is the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum e. V. association.
"Many Chemnitz initiatives and associations are involved in the 2015 Festival of Neighbours, and their commitment is a great gift for our tenth anniversary," says a delighted Pia Sachs, the city's EU coordinator. "Together, we can offer the people of Chemnitz a colourful, culturally diverse programme," Sachs continues.
For example, guests can look forward to a varied stage programme with dance and music at the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum. Visitors can also get active themselves: They can try out musical instruments, climb a climbing tower or test their marksmanship in archery. Board games can be played in the German SPIELEmuseum.
Various exhibitions will also be on show at the Festival of Neighbours. For example, "What really connects Europe: THE GAMES!", "ASYLUM" and "La piazza dell'amacizia - The Square of Friendship" on the integrative mask theatre play of the same name. At 4.30 pm, there will also be a barrier-free, sign-language interpreted tour of the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum. Admission to the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum is free on this day.
