The nature reserve "Am nördlichen Zeisigwald" - a building block of biodiversity
Lecture at the Environmental Centre on 16 November, 7 pm
Next Thursday, 16 November 2017, Christian Schwarze will present the nature reserve "Am nördlichen Zeisigwald" at 7 pm in the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5. Admission is free of charge.
Background:
The nature reserve "Am nördlichen Zeisigwald" is located in Chemnitz, east of the Hilbersdorf district. The 36-hectare area was designated as a nature reserve in 2013. The protected area is of great importance for flora and fauna, even beyond Chemnitz. Maintenance and development measures are essential.
On this year's GEO Biodiversity Day on 17 June 2017, Christian Schwarze took participants on a guided tour of this nature reserve close to the city.
In his presentation, he explained in words and pictures the conservation purpose, the special nature conservation values and the extensive work to sustainably protect the valuable habitats and occurrences. The challenges faced by this area on the edge of a large city will also be discussed.
