The Middle East conflict - a "never-ending story"?
Lecture and discussion on 26 February, 7 pm at TIETZ
On Monday 26 February at 7 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre, together with the Saxon State Centre for Political Education, invites you to a lecture and discussion on the background and current trends of the recurring Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the TIETZ event hall. Admission is free.
Due to the war in Syria and other crises and conflicts, the Middle East conflict is only marginally recognised by the global public. Yet it is the original conflict of modern times in this region and a major cause of the latent rejection of "the West" in the Middle East. Many prominent politicians have already endeavoured to resolve the conflict. Some have been honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts. But the conflict remains.
This evening will ask: Where are the roots? Where do the lines of conflict run? What makes the conflict (seemingly) insoluble? The lecture attempts to provide answers to these questions. The audience will be actively involved and discussion is encouraged.
Speaker Andreas Heinrich is a political and communication scientist and historian. He travelled as a project coordinator for THW during the refugee crises in the Middle East in Jordan in 2012 and in Iraq (Kurdistan) from 2013 to 2016.
