The "Kugelensemble" artwork is being created on Wenzel-Verner-Platz
Invitation to the photo session: 22 June, 3 p.m., Wenzel-Verner-Straße
On Thursday, 22 June at 3 pm, representatives of the media are invited to a photo session at the newly designed Wenzel-Verner-Platz in the Helbersdorf district. The construction work for a work of art by the designer Professor Karl Clauss Dietel, who died last year, is taking place there.
The metal construction artist Alexander Bergmann and representatives of the City of Chemnitz's cultural organisation will be available to answer questions and provide information at the photo opportunity.
The coordinates of the location are: 50.80896741994241, 12.894134976101707.
The "Kugelensemble" is the last work of art that Karl Clauss Dietel personally worked on for the city of Chemnitz. After his unexpected death, the metal construction artist Alexander Bergmann took over the final work. His grandfather had already produced the spheres for the original Karl-Marx-Städter Kugelbrunnen in 1974, which was designed by Karl Clauss Dietel together with his artist colleague Reinhard Grütz and stood in the Yorckgebiet supply centre.
The new work of art consists of nine copper spheres, six of which come from the former spherical fountain.
It will be officially inaugurated and unveiled on 29 June. (A separate invitation will be sent out for this).
