From Monday 5 May 2025, a three-part series of events will explore the importance of compromise in politics, society and everyday life. How can a sensible solution be found when opinions differ? Why is the term frequently discussed, especially in the political arena?

Coach and management consultant Uwe Bauer will kick off the series on 5 May 2025 at 7 p.m. with his lecture "Compromise economy: Why compromise should be the last resort". He will take a critical look at what compromises actually are and why they often result in a loss for both sides. With impulses for business, society and private life, he analyses the sometimes "lazy" compromises. The event will take place in course room 4.07 of the adult education centre in the TIETZ.
The series will be continued on 14 May 2025 at 7 pm by the philosopher Prof. Dr Véronique Zanetti. She will embark on a philosophical journey through the world of compromise. She will use numerous examples to illustrate the different types of compromise. Why can it be sensible and reasonable to agree to a jointly negotiated "second-best solution"? The lecture will be organised online. An access link will be sent out by email on the day of the event.
Finally, on 21 May 2025 at 7 p.m., political scientist Prof. Dr Eric Linhart will focus on compromises from a political perspective. Why is everyone talking about the need to approach each other and make compromises? Wouldn't it be better to take action or govern through? The event will take place in course room 4.07 of the adult education centre in the TIETZ.
Interested parties are invited to look at the concept of compromise from different perspectives in the three events and to enter into dialogue about it.
