The gate plates of the outlet weir in the castle pond are renewed

Required fishing is planned for 14 December

The inspection of the dam gates of the outlet structure in the castle pond has shown that the repair measures are limited to the replacement of the gates of the outlet weir as planned. To this end, the castle pond will now be lowered by approx. 1.30 metres to the threshold of the weir.

The 8-hectare pond must first be fished out. Fishing is planned for 14 December 2024. However, the date depends heavily on the weather. Fishing is not possible in heavy rain or when the surface is frozen.

As the fish stock in the castle pond has not grown through regular stocking (tenants), it is wild fish. Whether the fish are transferred or utilised depends on the composition of the fish population and is determined by the authorised fisherman in a professional and legally compliant manner.

Not least during the floods at Christmas 2023, it became clear that urgent repairs were needed to the three dam gates of the outlet structure.

The repairs to the water regulation of the castle pond should be completed by the end of February 2025, after which the water level will rise again.
The plans have been agreed with the Lower Water Authority.
