The fascinating world of bees
Adult education centre: Lecture on 17 March, 7 p.m., event hall in the TIETZ
On Thursday, 17 March, from 7 to 8.30 pm, anyone interested in active insect protection is invited to a special lecture on life in a beehive. On this evening in the TIETZ event hall, the focus will be on the living environments of honey bees and wild bees.

Honey bees in particular are among the oldest farm animals in the world. However, pesticides, a lack of food and other factors are threatening the bees' habitats. The fact that their numbers are dwindling has alarmed many nature lovers and prompted a rethink. Many want to get actively involved in protecting bees and insects in their own neighbourhoods. However, it is important to obtain comprehensive information and act prudently. The lecture gives an insight into the life of a bee colony. It will also show what everyone can do to protect wild bees, which, unlike honey bees, are actually endangered. Yet they are vital for the pollination of many wild plants.
The event marks the start of the "Living Consciously" series at the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. This is dedicated to the protection of nature and the conscious use of natural resources. Another event will be held on 21 May 2022 to mark "World Bee Day".
