The European Week of Sport 2017
Families on the move from 23 to 30 September
#BeActive - Together we move Germany! is the motto of the European Week of Sport 2017 from 23 to 30 September. Chemnitz is taking part in the action week for the second time this year.
After Chemnitz was named the most active city in Germany last year by the European Commission and the Deutscher Turner-Bund e.V., the EU office, in cooperation with the Sonnenberg district management, has once again succeeded in organising a varied programme in 2017. For the first time, the Reitbahnviertel district also took part in the programme, mobilising many different institutions, clubs, kindergartens, schools and districts to get people moving.
This year, the "Families on the Move" campaign was launched again. The campaign aims to promote the joy of movement, strengthen the family, offer an opportunity to spend time together, have fun, meet other families and exchange ideas. The Kappel and Reitbahnviertel district management teams are also involved in organising the supporting programme.
All interested parties are cordially invited to take advantage of the free games and sports programme and to get physically active. The "Family run - Chemnitz families on the move" in the Zeisigwald forest kicked off the event on 23 September.
As part of the supporting programme, activities such as a mobility box, hop and feel trail invite you to take part. Those who collect bonus points can also win prizes.
The programme during the week includes, among other things Dance workshop Bollywood - Indian dance to join in, sports relay games for families, Mount Everkist, a yard circus for families, the FamilyFunSportFest on 27 September in the Bunte Gärten Sonnenberg or a family table tennis day in the multi-generational house.
The Martinstraße day-care centre and the Don Bosco Haus Chemnitz are inviting families to actively participate with street games. There are also opportunities for hiking and ball games. Various clubs will be offering taster sessions in different sports and for all age groups throughout the event.
The CFC and the Niners invite you to a team challenge at the community4you ARENA on 28 September. Finally, on Saturday, you can try out archery at the Rosenhof and yoga in the Park of the Victims of Fascism.
Over the course of the week, all participants can take part in various sports and exercise activities free of charge and collect bonus points. Once the required number of points has been collected, you can take part in a raffle.
The Deutscher Turner-Bund e.V. has once again been appointed national coordinator of the European Week of Sport by the European Commission and the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The aim is to sensitise and activate the population for more exercise and thus for an active, healthy lifestyle.
