The effect of artificial lighting at night on various living organisms
The Environmental Agency invites you - Lecture on 27 February, 5 pm
The next lecture of the monthly events of the voluntary nature conservation service will take place on Tuesday, 27 February at 5 pm at the nature conservation station at Adelsbergstraße 192 and will deal with the effects of artificial lighting at night on various living creatures. Volunteer nature conservationist, sociologist and environmental educator Alexander Kühn will look at the ecological, health and cultural effects of artificial lighting on humans, animals and plants and what measures can be taken to reduce it. All nature conservationists and citizens interested in the topic are cordially invited to attend. Admission is free.
Background:
The new world atlas on artificial sky brightness at night, published in 2016, shows that 99 per cent of Europeans live in artificially lit areas and 88 per cent of the European continent is artificially lit at night. In addition, the amount of outdoor lighting is growing by around two per cent every year.
