The Cold Heart - Capitalism: The story of an ongoing revolution
On Thursday 21 November at 7 pm, economic historian Prof. Werner Plumpe will be a guest at the TIETZ Central Library. Prof Plumpe will read from his book "Das kalte Herz" ("The Cold Heart") and then discuss it with the audience. Admission is free.
"The cold heart, the merciless dynamics of variation and selection of capitalism, which only evaluates economic success and disregards all social, ethical, political, aesthetic and ecological aspects, unless they are relevant to price and payment, is ultimately preferable to all forms of supposed warm-heartedness that do not deliver what they frivolously promise."
This is the conclusion of Frankfurt economic historian Prof Werner Plumpe in his latest book "Das kalte Herz" (The Cold Heart). Looking back, Plumpe sees capitalism as the "history of an ongoing revolution". However, this is not the cause of current crisis situations, but part of their solution. After all, the constant renewal of capitalism is as good or bad as we shape it.
