The carriageway on the Südring is being renewed
Start of construction on 4 October - section from Neubauernweg to Winklhoferstraße
Construction work to renew the carriageway on the Südring between Neubauernweg and Winklhoferstraße will begin on Tuesday, 4 October. Specifically, the construction project extends on the westbound carriageway from the junction with Neubauernweg up to and including the junction with Südring/Winklhoferstraße.
The road section is characterised by severe and deep ruts, patches and cracks. It is therefore necessary to completely replace the bound layers of the carriageway surfacing in order to renew the carriageway. The work is expected to last until mid-November.
During this time, traffic will be diverted to the eastbound carriageway, which normally runs in the direction of the flyover, and reduced to one lane in each direction. In the area where the road joins the flyover at the Südring/Neefestraße junction, traffic will be routed across the central reservation using two temporary crossings, which will be removed once the work is complete.
One central reservation crossing (A) leads to the slip road of the flyover for traffic heading towards the motorway. The other (B) leads traffic in the opposite direction (towards Annaberger Straße). After the Südring/Winklhoferstraße junction, traffic is routed back to both lanes via an existing central reservation crossing (C). (See general plan)
At the Winklhoferstraße junction, the existing traffic lights will be taken out of operation. A flashing warning light will indicate pedestrians crossing from the right.
The construction project costs around 365,000 euros and is being carried out by EBG Bau GmbH, Ehrenfriedersdorf.
