The carriageway of Einsiedler Hauptstraße is being renewed
Start of construction on 10 July - full closure from Einsiedel Grammar School to Funkstraße
On Monday 10 July - at the start of the summer holidays - the asphalt surface course on Einsiedler Hauptstraße will be renewed on behalf of the City of Chemnitz Traffic and Civil Engineering Department. To this end, the approx. 530 metre long section of road between Gymnasium Einsiedel and Funkstraße (at the level of Einsiedler Hauptstraße, house no. 23) will be fully closed to cycle and motorised traffic.
The entire construction project will be realised in two sections. In the first three weeks, the damaged asphalt pavement between Funkstraße and Kurt-Franke-Straße will be milled off to a thickness of four centimetres and replaced with new asphalt mix. In addition, drainage channels and road inlets will be repaired and signage and road markings will be renewed.
Once the first construction phase has been opened to traffic, work will begin on the second construction phase: from Kurt-Franke-Straße to the grammar school.
The work is expected to be completed by the start of school on 21 August.
Pupils at Einsiedel Grammar School will then also be able to use the bus stops and pedestrian crossings that were rebuilt as part of the project without barriers.
Traffic will be diverted via Erfenschlager Straße, B95 and Berbisdorfer Straße for the planned six-week period. Due to the cramped local conditions, a one-way street in the direction of Einsiedel must be set up in the Berbisdorfer Straße area via Berbisdorfer-/Kemtauer Straße and Eibenberger Allee.
The CVAG lines OL76 and S92 will also run on the diversion routes.
Pedestrians will not have to take any detours. They will be guided past the construction sites. Only in the area of the grammar school will temporary areas have to be made passable.
Residents of Kurt-Franke-Straße will have limited access to their properties during the works. They must pay attention to the traffic routing set up on a daily basis.
The City of Chemnitz is investing a total of 210,000 euros in this measure. The company Eiffage Infra-Ost GmbH from Drebach was commissioned with the work.
