The Brühl comes alive: Tips for the cultural summer weekend from 2 to 4 August with literature, slackline and music

While the city is developing revitalisation concepts for the Brühl together with other stakeholders, young creatives are reviving the district with art and culture during the summer weeks - because: Brühl leaves room for ideas - and the organisers of the Kultursommer auf dem Brühl, supported by the Brühl Office and as part of the federal-state programme SOP - Active Urban and District Centres, are making this clearly visible. A wide range of events and projects for all ages are organised over seven summer weeks to put Brühl in the public eye. Young creative people will use original ideas, artistic graffiti and street art to colour the exterior of vacant buildings. At Brühl 51, the "Brühl-Barlament" - an exhibition, meeting, event and activity space - invites those interested in culture. Original ideas such as "guerrilla knitting", every Monday from 3 p.m., where everyday grey benches, trees and lanterns on Brühl Boulevard are knitted together, are just as much a part of the programme as the "Sunday Hangout".The "Sunday Hangover", where people meet on the Brühl for a picnic, brunch, barbecue and changing live music and also watch artists at work. During the cultural summer, open-air events as well as concerts by local bands break up the previous silence of the squares for the first time.
Weekend programme from Friday, 2 August to Sunday, 4 August with literature, slacklining and music: "Slack-Werk" will next be performing on the boulevard from Friday to Sunday from 4 to 8 pm. Like slackliners in city centres elsewhere, this group of young acrobatics enthusiasts from Chemnitz is now conquering the Brühl with this new trend sport, which involves balancing on a webbing strap. Spectators can watch the acrobats at the weekend or try balancing themselves. In contrast, Michael Sonntag's audience should relax on the Brühl Terraces on Saturday at 3 pm. The author has made a name for himself with readings and his commitment to the German independent literature scene. Himself committed to macabre minimalism, he tells short stories in the tradition of the Brothers Grimm, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe and Oscar Wilde. Claudia Feger will also be reading on the Brühl Terraces on Sunday at 3 pm. In "Zeitenlicht - allerlei düster-makabere Streifzüge durch Chemnitz", the author asks ironically: Do cornflowers and wild poppies necessarily belong together? What is the connection between baking cakes and university seminars? Are libraries really dangerous breeding grounds for the mind?
The weekend programme at the Brühl wouldn't be complete without hip sounds: on Friday, 10 pm at the Barlament with electronic dance music by Enrico Ludwig a.k.a. Enny One & Cath Boo & Dieda. On Saturday there will be dancehall by Phonatics on the Brühl terraces at 5.30 pm and D.I.S. B2B Miss AYA will be playing in the Barlament at 7.30 pm. They will be replaced by E.O.T.F Collective at 10 pm at the same location.
In addition, Radio T will leave its secure studios from 3 pm on Saturday and accompany the Chemnitz Kultursommer on the Brühl with a mobile live studio featuring music and entertainment.
