The BibLab-C project is funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation
Chemnitz City Library will receive funding of 175,400 euros from the Federal Cultural Foundation's "hochdrei - Stadtbibliotheken verändern" funding programme for the BibLab-C (Bibliotheks-Labor-Chemnitz) project.
For the BibLab-C project, a large project room with three themed areas will be created in the central library in the TIETZ. In the areas of "Perceiving", "Doing" and "Sharing", there will be a wide range of content and methods developed by the library as well as by citizens and co-operation partners. The project space is moderated and curated by a citizen-orientated advisory board, which was founded specifically from the city library's well-established network in Chemnitz's creative and digital scene.
The spatial division of the project space into three sections allows for different uses: The entire media spectrum of the library can be experienced in the "Perceive" themed area. The digital workshop and the sound lab are dedicated to "making". Here, citizens can learn how to programme themselves and get creative with digital media and equipment. "Sharing" takes centre stage in an open space where citizens or groups can share their own ideas and the results of creative experimentation with others.
