The beautiful soul, evil and the reason of the real in Hegel
On Monday, 11 October, from 7 to 8.30 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites interested parties to a lecture on a current reading of the philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel in the event hall at the TIETZ. Cologne-based author and blogger Marlon Grohn rediscovers Hegel's thinking and asks, with a twinkle in his eye, what we can learn from him for current debates on socialism.
Admission is free. Due to the limited number of places, we recommend that you book in advance at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488-4343.
The lecture will centre on the question of what central concepts such as reason, reality, morality or recognition mean in Hegel. Why should those who are trying to fight for socialism today learn from him? How does the dialectic of domination and servitude relate to fear, anxiety and labour? On this evening, Marlon Grohn will present Hegel's major work "Phenomenology of Spirit", published in 1807, as a revolutionary vaccine that can be used to immunise oneself against the current "virus" of left-wing denial of reality.
The author Marlon Grohn has previously published the books "Communism for adults. Linkes Bewusstsein und die Wirklichkeit des Sozialismus" and "Hegel to go" (together with Dietmar Dath), and this year saw the publication of "Hass von oben, Hass von unten. Class struggle on the internet".
The event is a co-operation between the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
