The area around the Ferdinandstrasse pond is being renovated
Construction begins on 16 September - combination of barriers and planting beds created
Work on the area around the Ferdinandstraße pond begins on Monday. The defective wooden railing that surrounds the pond will be replaced with a combination of fencing and planting beds. The path around the pond will also be renewed using a water-bound surface layer.
The pond itself is built up with a natural stone bank wall, which means it would be very dangerous to fall in, as the wall enclosure makes it difficult to climb out again.
The special task is to make the pond an experience on the one hand, but also to prevent access to the water - as a potential source of danger - and to make it clear to visitors to the green space that entering the bank area is not permitted.
The work is expected to last until the end of October 2024.
The costs amount to approx. 45,500 euros. The contract was awarded to Grünbau Bad Schlema GmbH.
