Testers wanted for the new NUMIC app
Survey of passers-by along the NUMIC model route and on the Chemnitz Valley cycle path
Chemnitz University of Technology, Fraunhofer IAO and the City of Chemnitz are jointly looking for interested parties who would like to test the new NUMIC project app.
The NUMIC app gives citizens the opportunity to support the project in improving the infrastructure for cycling and walking mobility and to make concrete suggestions for design recommendations. The app can also be used to record routes in order to gain a better understanding of the routes used in Chemnitz.
The app test will take place in the week from 12 to 16 October 2020 in the city of Chemnitz and will last approximately half an hour. Interested parties will be given a smartphone with which they can try out the various functions of the app (recording routes, etc.) and provide feedback on any changes they would like to see. Testing the app will take place outdoors and involve a short walk in the city centre. Hygiene regulations will be observed and the smartphones will be thoroughly disinfected after each use.

Survey on infrastructural design requirements at junctions for the conversion and evaluation of the NUMIC model route
Along the NUMIC model route and along the Chemnitz Valley cycle path, Chemnitz University of Technology is once again surveying Chemnitz residents. This time, specific design and change requests will be collected at various junctions and crossings.
The survey will take around 20 minutes and will take place at the following times and locations:
- from 6 to 8 October: Hans-Ziegler-Straße/Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße junction AND Zschopauer Straße/Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße junction
- from 13 to 15 October: Chemnitztalradweg - Lohrstraße bridge
Interested parties are welcome to drop by until 7 pm on the days mentioned and contribute their ideas.

NUMIC - New urban mobility awareness in Chemnitz
The project "NUMIC - New Urban Mobility Awareness in Chemnitz" aims to contribute to changing the choice of means of transport and the transport behaviour of the Chemnitz population. The project is being realised in collaboration with project partners from business and science and is coordinated by the City of Chemnitz. Together with citizens, an exemplary model route for walking and cycling will be developed and investigated away from the congested main roads in the city centre. These results will be used to derive a transferable approach for the development of urban mobility solutions as a contribution to sustainable urban development.
The project partners are the City of Chemnitz, Chemnitz University of Technology (Chair of Ergonomics and Innovation Management, Research Group General and Occupational Psychology, Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer), Dresden University of Technology (Knowledge Architecture), Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and innosabi GmbH.
