Test drillings to explore the subsoil

Preparatory work for the new secondary school at Richard-Hartmann-Platz

In the period from Wednesday, 12 December to Friday, 21 December, the subsoil on Richard-Hartmann-Platz will be explored in preparation for the construction of a new secondary school. For this purpose, rotary core drillings with heavy drilling equipment (approx. 20 cm diameter) will be carried out at various points in the construction site to a depth of 25 metres. A temporary noise disturbance is unfortunately unavoidable.

The cores taken will provide comprehensive information about the soil quality and support further planning for the new school building. As the site of the former Hartmannwerke and the former Germaniawerk was used for industrial purposes before 1945 and was largely destroyed during the Second World War, it is hoped that the rubble will also provide further insights.

The boreholes will be sealed again immediately after the samples have been taken.

Representatives of the media are invited to a photo opportunity at Richard-Hartmann-Platz on Thursday, 13 December at 11 am.
