Tervetuloa in Chemnitz - Finnish adult education students as guests
Adult education centre: Intercultural exchange from 23 to 26 September
From Monday to Thursday, 23 to 26 September, adult education students from Finland will be guests at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. "Tervetuloa - Welcome" is the motto when the group of curious and keen travellers arrives from Sastamala in Finland. Sastamala is a small town just outside Chemnitz's twin city Tampere.
The intercultural exchange centres on joint learning in health and language courses for participants from both adult education centres. There will be plenty of time to talk to each other during the cookery course for regional cuisine. After a welcome and a tour of the town hall, an English-language tour of the city is also on the programme. In cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology, the guests will also take part in a workshop on the topic of "Well-Aging".
The visit is made possible by the European exchange programme Erasmus+, in which Chemnitz Adult Education Centre has been participating for ten years. Encounters, learning from each other and exchanges between generations and cultures are the central aims of this programme.
The stay of the Finnish guests strengthens the bond between Chemnitz and the city-twinning region. In the past, educational staff from both adult education centres have already visited each other. This is the first time that learners from Finland have travelled to Chemnitz. Both institutions would like to expand this partnership in the future.
