Taxi fares to rise from mid-December 2022

At its meeting today, the City Council decided to increase the transport charges for taxis in the Chemnitz compulsory travel area with effect from 15 December 2022.

The fares will increase by €0.40 per kilometre or €0.20 (from kilometre 4 in the daily fare). The basic fare will increase by 0.10 euros.

The new fare is set as follows:

Tariff level I, weekdays 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., basic tariff 4.00 euros, kilometre price up to 3 km at 2.70 euros/km, over 3 km at 2.20 euros/km.

Fare level II, weekdays 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and all day on Sundays and public holidays, basic fare 4.00 euros, kilometre fare up to 3 km at 2.90 euros/km, over 3 km at 2.40 euros/km. The fare is calculated by the fare meter.

The surcharge for large-capacity taxis remains at 6 euros.

The amendment to the taxi fare ordinance in the Chemnitz compulsory travel area is being made at the request of the Chemnitz eG taxi co-operative (on behalf of all members), as the statutory minimum wage and general costs in the industry have risen and will continue to rise. Further proposals for a fee adjustment were received as part of the consultation process.

The agreed fee increase results in an average price increase for passengers of around ten per cent.
