Taxi fares to rise from March 2022
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to increase the transport charges for taxis in the Chemnitz compulsory travel area with effect from 1 March 2022.
The transport charges will increase by 0.20 euros per kilometre travelled. The surcharge for large-capacity taxis will also increase by 1 euro. The basic fare of 3.90 euros will remain the same as before. The waiting time is now divided into two categories at 25 euros per hour and 30 euros per hour, calculated per minute of waiting time.
The new tariff is set as follows:
Tariff level I, weekdays 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., basic tariff 3.90 euros, kilometre price up to 3 km at 2.30 euros/km, over 3 km at 2 euros/km.
Fare level II, weekdays 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and all day on Sundays and public holidays, basic fare 3.90 euros, kilometre fare up to 3 km at 2.50 euros/km, over 3 km at 2 euros/km.
The fare is calculated by the fare meter.
The surcharge for large-capacity taxis increases from 5 euros to 6 euros.
The amendment to the taxi fare ordinance in the Chemnitz compulsory travel area is being made at the request of the Chemnitz eG taxi co-operative (on behalf of all members), as the statutory minimum wage and general costs in the industry have risen and will continue to rise.
The agreed increase in charges will result in an average price increase for passengers of around 4 to 5 per cent. Compared to the major Saxon cities of Dresden and Leipzig, the fare in Chemnitz is the lowest even after the increase.
