"Take a seat" project enters the next round

Digital information event on 19 April, 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, 19 April at 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to a digital information session on "Nimm Platz". The project, which was launched in 2019 as part of the Capital of Culture application, is entering the next round of tenders. Chemnitz residents are once again invited to fill unused areas or squares with their own ideas.

The link to the information round will be available at www.chemnitz2025.de/nimmplatz on the day of the event. Together with Mayor of Construction Michael Stötzer, representatives from various specialist departments and the Chemnitz Economic Development Agency, the Chemnitz 2025 team will take a look at some of the projects that have been realised in previous years. They will also explain the conditions under which projects can be funded and what happens after funding.

Following the information event, the project application will be available to download from the website. There is time until 20 May 2022 to photograph a potential site, complete the project application and send it to the Department of Urban Development and Construction by email to nimmplatz2022(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. The most popular ideas will then be selected from all the proposals via an online vote and implemented by citizens in 2022 with the support of the City of Chemnitz.

Communities create places and places create community - that is the idea behind the "Take a seat" project. Once again, creative projects are being funded that create new favourite places in Chemnitz and turn small squares, gaps between buildings or brownfield sites into meeting places. A budget of 2025 euros is available per square - a sum that makes personal initiative both possible and necessary. The aim is to create community projects that unite many talents.
The implementation of the projects should bring together as many people as possible who are committed to creating a beautiful new place in their district: for urban gardening, playing sports, playing, barbecuing, relaxing, meeting friends, tobogganing, splashing around, enjoying art, listening to music, going to the theatre, drinking coffee, learning, building bicycles and so on.
