On Monday 29 June at 3 pm, the four tactile models of Schilling’s sculptures will be handed over to the Schloßbergmuseum, Schloßberg 12. The models were created as part of a project run by the Technical University of Freiberg (TU Bergakademie Freiberg) and the Georgius-Agricola-Gymnasium in Chemnitz, on the initiative of Petra Liebetrau, the City of Chemnitz’s inclusion officer, and Martina Schneider, long-standing director of the ASB Residential Centre in Chemnitz.
Media representatives are invited to attend.
The handover to the Schloßberg Museum will take place in the presence of Petra Liebetrau, Prof. Henning Zeidler of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the project’s technical director, two staff members from the ASB Residential Centre, four pupils and a teacher from the Agricola Gymnasium, and the director of the Schloßberg Museum, Stefan Thiele, and Christiane Meister, Head of Education and Outreach at the Chemnitz Art Collections.
The four models were produced using 3D printing by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Henning Zeidler and pupils from the Agricola Gymnasium. Each is approximately 25 centimetres tall and gives blind and visually impaired people, as well as children and other interested members of the public, the opportunity to experience Schilling’s figures through touch.
The four tactile models of the figures were first presented at the KOSMOS Festival 2025, right next to Schilling’s sculptures by the Schloßteich, in the presence of members of the KOSMOS Festival’s Accessibility Council, and were available for use throughout the festival.
In future, the 3D-printed tactile models are to be used in guided tours and educational programmes at the Schloßberg Museum.
