On Tuesday, 10 June at 5.30 p.m., four tactile models of the Schilling figures will be handed over at the castle pond. The models were created on the initiative of the City of Chemnitz's Inclusion Officer, Petra Liebetrau, and Martina Schneider, long-time director of the ASB residential centre in Chemnitz, as part of a project by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and the Georgius Agricola Gymnasium Chemnitz.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
The four models were produced using 3D printing by Prof Dr Henning Zeidler (TU Bergakademie Freiberg) and pupils from the Agricola-Gymnasium. They are each approx. 25 centimetres high and give blind and visually impaired people, as well as children and other interested parties, the opportunity to experience Schilling's figures haptically.
The models will be presented to the Accessibility Council of the KOSMOS Festival in the presence of those involved. The group of volunteers and full-time staff, led by Anja Lippmann, is committed to ensuring that the festival, which will once again take place around the castle pond from 13 to 15 June, is as barrier-free as possible. The tactile models will be available at the KOSMOS festival and may be used. The Accessibility Council itself will have a stand at the "Oase am Brunnen". It has not yet been decided where the tactile models will be permanently located.
