Syria as a focal point: Refugee crisis in and around Syria. Causes and solutions from a European perspective

Lecture and discussion with Andreas Heinrich on 21 October, 6 pm at TIETZ

What alternatives are there to the current situation, which is turning millions of people into refugees?

A lecture on 21 October 2016 at 6 p.m. in the TIETZ event hall (3rd floor) will identify the causes of the conflict and the geopolitical interests of the major and regional powers in the Middle East. The significance of the "Islamic State" and the humanitarian catastrophe of the refugee movements will be explained. The role of Europe and Germany in this will also be discussed, as well as possible ways out of the situation and future dangers.

The speaker, Andreas Heinrich, is a political and communication scientist and historian. He travelled as a project coordinator for THW during the refugee crises in the Middle East in Jordan in 2012 and in Iraq (Kurdistan) from 2013 to 2016.

Admission to the event is free.
