Symposium "Living diversity in daycare centres" on 12 September at the TIETZ
Cultural diversity is the core of a free society and the key to its development. However, diversity is also a challenge faced by educational professionals, among others: different perspectives, languages and experiences can certainly prove to be obstacles in day-to-day work. On 12 September, the first specialist day "Living diversity in daycare centres" at the TIETZ cultural centre will provide information on how these hurdles can be overcome and how potential can be turned into opportunities.
Focus on exchange and further training
On this day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., professionals can take part in various lectures, a panel discussion and eight specific workshops on topics such as prejudice-conscious education, parenting and trauma pedagogy. The aim is to make it easier for daycare centre staff to respond to various problems and interactions and to show children the special features and possibilities of cultural diversity. Minister of State Petra Köpping will open the event with a keynote speech. The organisers will be available for interviews during the symposium from 12 noon to 12:30 pm. Interested parties have until 11 September to register for the symposium.

The symposium is an event organised by INTEGRA 2000 e. V. in cooperation with the City of Chemnitz/ Office for Youth and Family, the Chemnitz City Library and the AWO Kreisverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. as well as other partners. It is funded by the Free State of Saxony as part of the state programme "Integrative Measures".
