Swimming festival in the Gablenz indoor swimming pool
Technical tours and sports activities on 15 April, from 8.30 a.m.
On Sunday, 15 April, from 8.30 am to 4 pm, all interested parties are invited to a pool party to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated Gablenz swimming pool.
Swimming pool employees will explain the refurbished pool technology to visitors. Guided tours of the pool's technical rooms will take place at 10.30 am, 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm. There will also be plenty of sports activities to take part in. For example, you can test your dexterity on a reaction wall. Children can decorate themselves with glitter tattoos or have their faces painted.
Zorbing balls are a highlight of the bathing festival. They consist of two transparent layers with air between them. Anyone who wants to can balance over the water inside these large inflatable balls.
From 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., there is also the opportunity to try out the "Swimolino" mermaid courses, which are also offered in Chemnitz pools. This involves swimming with just a fin. To take part, you should be able to swim safely, i.e. have at least a seahorse certificate. The bronze swimming badge or the free swimmer qualification is better.
Diving competitions, canoe and dinghy races are also organised. You can also compete with others in mat and pool noodle competitions.
A combination of cycling and water sports is offered by aqua biking, a relatively new sport that enables cycling in water. You can also test such an aqua bike at the swimming festival in the Gablenz indoor swimming pool.
