Suspicion of avian influenza following purchases of pullets

Further outbreaks of avian influenza are suspected in Saxony after owners bought pullets from the Thuringian branch in Apolda of the Schulte poultry farm in Delbrück-Westenholz (North Rhine-Westphalia).
Avian influenza was detected at the farm at the beginning of the week. Young hens were sold from there in small batches throughout Germany - including to poultry farms in Saxony, Thuringia and Baden-Württemberg. In Saxony, according to current knowledge, small flocks in the Vogtland district and the district of Leipzig are affected.
As the whereabouts of the animals sold by the trader from NRW cannot be fully traced, all poultry owners who have purchased animals from the above-mentioned trader since the beginning of March are requested to inform the trader immediately.All owners of poultry who have purchased animals from the above-mentioned trader since the beginning of March are requested to contact the food monitoring and veterinary office of their district or city immediately.
