Survey on housing and living at Brühl in Chemnitz
Evaluation of the questionnaires received
Yesterday, Building Mayor Michael Stötzer gave interim information to the Committee for Urban Development and Mobility on the questionnaires received from the Brühl survey launched at the beginning of June. Of the 1360 questionnaires distributed, 415 were returned. That is over 30 per cent. The response rate for such surveys is usually around ten per cent. Interest in Brühl is high.
An initial look at the questionnaires reveals that the majority of respondents would like to see outdoor catering, markets and street festivals. The Brühl is particularly valued for its proximity to the city centre and its neighbourhood character.
On Thursday 16 July, there will be an information event on the Brühl at which the results will be publicly evaluated and discussed with interested parties. Depending on the weather, this will take place in the Brühl office or outdoors on the Brühl.
The evaluation of the survey will also be published in the Chemnitz official gazette, on the city's website www.chemnitz.de and in the Brühl office.
Background: In its April meeting, the city council commissioned the administration to conduct a survey on whether the Brühl should be converted from a general residential area to a so-called "urban area" under planning law. The questionnaires are intended to record the wishes, suggestions and concerns of local residents. The aim is to find solutions that harmonise both wishes and existing legal standards. Once the survey has been analysed, a proposal will be made as to how planning security can be created for all parties involved.
The desire for a lively and tangible Brühl has not only been a concern for its residents for years. Thanks to the commitment of many local stakeholders, Brühl has developed into a lively and culturally diverse neighbourhood with an increasing mix of living and working, leisure and gastronomy. However, the creative interaction also leads to controversial discussions about further development.
