Survey on environmental issues in the city of Chemnitz
From 23 April to 23 July (amended) 2021, the City of Chemnitz is conducting a survey on various environmental issues in Chemnitz for the first time. All Chemnitz residents are invited to take part at www.chemnitz.de/umweltumfrage. This will take about 15 minutes. The information will of course be treated confidentially and analysed anonymously. It is not possible to link the answers to a specific person.
The aim of the survey is to find out what the people of Chemnitz think about environmental issues such as green spaces and water, nature conservation, environmental education, climate change and renewable energies. The primary goal is for citizens to feel comfortable in Chemnitz and find healthy living conditions. The environment is crucial for this. The survey therefore also includes the following questions:
What is the importance of green spaces in the city? How are they accessible and how are they used? What role do climate protection and climate adaptation measures play? What is the attitude towards expanding the use of electricity from renewable energies? What is the level of personal commitment to nature conservation or how are the city's environmental education programmes used by adults and children?
Initial evaluation results will be published on www.chemnitz.de in autumn 2021.
The City of Chemnitz will use these to assess the success of previous measures, but also to derive specific goals for the various topics. For example, the city is currently developing the Urban Nature Masterplan as an overarching concept for safeguarding and developing green (green spaces, parks, gardens, etc.) and blue (rivers, streams, ponds) infrastructure. The integrated climate protection programme is also being updated. The survey results will be incorporated into this and other plans.
To ensure that the survey is meaningful, it is important that all age groups and all neighbourhoods take part. The environmental survey is also intended to give young people and all interested parties the opportunity to participate in these issues in their city.
