Summer with the book bus
Changed timetable for the holiday period and special events
For technical reasons, the book bus can only serve the following stops from 2 to 12 July:
2 July Ebersdorf Max-Saupe-Str. / Wendeschleife, 3 to 5 p.m.
3 July Norma Reichenbrand, Reichenbrander Str. 126, 9 to 11 a.m.
4 July Book picnic SFZ Förderzentrum, Flemmingstr. 8c, 3 to 7 p.m.
5 July Book picnic, Andreplatz, St. Pauli-Kreuz, 3 to 7 p.m.
6 July REWE Rabenstein, Oberfrohnaer Straße 63+65, 10.20 to 11.20 a.m.
In addition, the planned book bus service will unfortunately have to be cancelled from 13 July to 11 August. However, this should not detract from the summer reading programme, as there are still some special events awaiting visitors in July and August.
With picnic basket and book
The book picnic, for which the city library's book bus stops off in secluded meadows in Chemnitz's residential areas, ensures a successful start to the holidays.
Visitors can expect a colourful mix of games, fun, crafts, reading aloud, book casting and the city library's diverse media and online offerings. To make it a real picnic, guests are invited to bring their own delicacies and drinks.
The visit is free of charge. (In case of bad weather, the event will have to be cancelled).

4 July, SFZ Förderzentrum, Flemmingstr. 8c / House 18 3 to 7 p.m.
5 July, Andréplatz, St. Pauli-Kreuz church 3 to 7 p.m.
11 July, Markersdorfer Oase, Wolgograder Allee 27 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
12 July, Körnerplatz, St Mark's Church 3 to 7 p.m.
Surprise at the start of school
On 15 August, from 2 pm to 7 pm, and on 18 August, from 1 pm to 6 pm, the book bus will stop at the Rabenstein reservoir and visitors to the baths can not only plunge into the cool waters, but also into the world of media. Books can be borrowed on site for browsing on the lawn, or books worth reading can be purchased from a selection of discarded books.
