Summer planting begins in urban green spaces on Monday

The preparations for the summer planting are largely complete. A total area of approx. 1040 m² will be planted, starting next Monday in the "Schloßbergpark". The plants will be delivered in excellent quality by the company Wilhelm-Willkomm GbR from Dresden. The planting in the "Park am Roten Turm" will follow on Tuesday and the borders in the "Schloßplatz" will be embellished on Wednesday.

A total of 11,640 summer flowers such as begonias, dahlias, coneflowers and sage will be planted. The plantings were designed by the heads of the maintenance areas Christina Löwe and Holger Rotzsch.

There is also plenty to do after planting, as summer flowers are among the plants that require a lot of care. Anyone who tends their own garden at home can understand this. The plants need a lot of nutrients and regular watering. Every two to three weeks, any weeds that have grown up need to be removed, faded plants are cleaned out or cut back to prevent the plants from maturing seeds and thus prolong the flowering period.

Nevertheless, urban greenery is a defining location factor for Chemnitz, which ensures quality of life and makes our city attractive at relatively low cost.
