Summer planting 2016

Expected start on 23 May

The City of Chemnitz Parks Department is planning to plant a total of 25,720 summer flowers over the next few days. Depending on the weather, the planting of the beds will begin next week, probably on 23 May.

A total of 13,420 flowers will be planted in Park am Roten, 7,600 in Schloßplatz and 4,700 in the beds on Schloßberg.

Colourful blooms will include liver balsam, begonia, curry plant and silver verbena, as well as salvia, tall marigolds and fuchsia standard. There will also be vanilla flowers, gazania, lantana, pelargonium, hanging petunia, hussar button, verbena, zinnia and spider plants.

The plants will be planted in beds in the city centre on a total of 1060 square metres of public green space.

The cost of the summer flowers is 12,346 euros. W. Willkomm GbR, Dresden, was commissioned to supply the plants.
