Summer holidays at the zoo and wildlife park

The holiday season at the zoo starts on Sunday, 7 July, from 10 am to 4 pm with the 12th DRK blood donation day in the zoo school. All donors on this day will be reimbursed the entrance fee for themselves and an accompanying child after donating blood. Please bring your identity card with you when donating blood.
From Monday, 8 July, Chemnitz Zoo will once again be organising exciting short tours for young and old every day at 11 am. On 8 July the pygmy hippos are on the programme, on 9 July the Siberian tiger. The other guided tours can be enquired about at the ticket office or found on the zoo's homepage(www.tierpark-chemnitz.de).
In the Oberrabenstein wildlife enclosure, the popular show feedings take place again on weekdays at 11 a.m., on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the wolves and lynxes and on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the mouflons and wild boars.
During the summer holidays, Chemnitz Zoo is offering a holiday programme for children for the first time. In the week from 29 July to 2 August, from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., children can explore the zoo as researchers, get to know exotic animal species up close, research the zoo's news as reporters and make exciting things for animals.
The programme is suitable for children aged 6 to 13 and can be booked individually or as a weekly programme. The maximum number of participants is limited to 15.
The cost per day and child is 15 euros (excluding catering). Please register in advance by e-mail: tierpark(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. The registration deadline is 26 July at 1 pm.
Christopher Street Day
Christopher Street Day will take place in Chemnitz on 20 July. And since homosexuality is not only found in humans, Chemnitz Zoo is offering a special guided tour on 19 July at 4 pm and 20 July at 10 am on the topic of "Homosexuality in the animal kingdom - about queer animals".
The guided tour, which lasts around an hour, has some amorous animal facts in store. Participation is free of charge. Only the entrance fee has to be paid. Due to the limited number of participants (max. 20 people per tour), please register in advance by calling (0371) 85 00 28 or sending an email to tierpark(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
