Summer fun for children on holiday: Over 52,000 bathers so far at the Bernsdorf, Gablenz, Wittgensdorf and Einsiedel outdoor pools

Second week of holidays in Saxony: the majority of families are going on holiday. The holiday calendar published by the city's Office for Youth and Family Affairs (PM 375 from 27.06.2014) offers a wide range of suggestions for girls and boys staying at home to make the most of the remaining holiday days with exciting experiences. Parents and children can find out about these offers in the booklet, which is currently available to take away from the information desks in the town halls. Bathingfestivals: Bathing festivals attract people staying at home to municipal outdoor pools and the reservoir during the summer holidays. The swimming festival in Gablenz alone attracted 600 visitors last weekend. Here the swimming instructors had prepared the ever-popular "arse-bombing" competitions as well as sliding and jumping competitions. There was also a competition to see who could do the longest "Köpper". Visitors could try out two aqua fitness bikes to their heart's content and win prizes on the wheel of fortune.
According to the sports office, similar swimming festivals are to take place on Saturday, 2 August in the Wittgensdorf outdoor pool and probably on Sunday, 10 August in the Einsiedeln outdoor pool.

The Oberrabenstein reservoir also attracts many sun-seekers during the holidays. The natural lake in an idyllic location is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm until 19 August. After that, the opening time is reduced by one hour in the evening - information online: www.stausee-rabenstein.de
Swimming fun in numbers: The outdoor pools in the city of Chemnitz have been very popular during the summer holidays thanks to the midsummer bathing weather. There was already a huge rush at the beginning of June: 16,679 swimmers sought to cool off in the waters of the Bernsdorf, Gablenz, Wittgensdorf and Einsiedel outdoor pools. In Gablenz alone, 5,417 swimmers came at Whitsun. In the current outdoor pool season, a total of 52,188 visitors have come to the municipal outdoor pools so far, including 6,946 in Einsiedel, 10,994 in Wittgensdorf, 16,203 in Gablenz and - top of the league! - 18,045 in the Bernsdorf district. In 2012, there were 35,995 visitors in the same period and 43,381 bathers in 2013.
