Südring at the Markersdorfer Straße junction is being renewed

Coordinated construction project by the city of Chemnitz and eins - construction starts on 17 April

From Monday 17 April, work will begin to renew the Südring/Markersdorfer Straße junction. The crossing over the central reservation of the Südring will be widened in the junction area. At the same time, the existing bus bay ("Markersdorfer Straße" bus stop) will be converted to make it barrier-free.

During the works, traffic on the southern carriageway of the Südring (in the direction of the B 174) will be diverted to the northern carriageway via existing central reservation crossings.
Markersdorfer Straße will be fully closed in the area of the junction.
The CVAG bus route 52 will be diverted from Helbersdorfer Straße to Wladimir-Sagorski-Straße.

The construction section on the southern carriageway is 205 metres long. It stretches from the beginning of the "Markersdorfer Straße" bus stop bay (in the west) to after the junction with Markersdorfer Straße (in the east).

The construction project is a coordinated measure by the City of Chemnitz Transport and Civil Engineering Department and the utility company eins. eins is responsible for the street lighting, which is being replaced and newly installed, as well as the installation of a new empty conduit route.

The company EBG from Erdmannsdorf was commissioned with the construction work. The work will continue until 27 May. The costs amount to around 372,000 euros.
