Successful first monitoring by the European Commission
Statement by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze
The ECoC Expert Panel today published its report on the first monitoring of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
The panel's report attests to the high level of professionalism of the City of Chemnitz and the organising team and praises the solid progress that has been made in the further preparations since Chemnitz was selected as European Capital of Culture 2025 on 28 October 2020. The report also makes recommendations for the further development of priorities and the programme.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "This first monitoring report is both a confirmation and an incentive: confirmation of our work over the past few months, in which we primarily prepared the launch of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH. And an incentive for us to continue working purposefully on building structures and relationships with stakeholders. The report provides valuable information for the further process, the content profile and programme. It is important to me that, in addition to the diverse cooperation with our European partners, we continue to rely on the broad participation of interested urban society and the region."
The second monitoring is planned for mid-2023. There will be a final monitoring in autumn 2024 before the title year.
