Students present their visions for the Capital of Culture
Ideas for intervention areas in Chemnitz will be presented on 19 October at 6 p.m. in the Garagencampus, Zwickauer Straße 164
On Tuesday 19 October at 6 pm, students from TU Dresden will present their visions for intervention spaces in Chemnitz for the Capital of Culture at the Garage Campus Chemnitzer Straßenbahnmuseum, Zwickauer Straße 164. The event is open to the public.
Students from the TU Dresden's Faculty of Architecture have spent a whole semester getting closer to the city of Chemnitz. They scrutinised, planned and developed visions for the design of various locations. Under the direction of Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Angela Mensing-de Jong, Institute of Urban and Regional Planning, some of the students worked on the intervention areas for the Capital of Culture 2025, for example the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff ensemble, Schillerplatz, the Chemnitztal cycle path and the Zwickauer Straße garage campus. Another group of students, led by Prof Ana Viader Soler from the Institute of Landscape Architecture, developed ideas and concepts for the redesign of Brückenstraße in the summer semester of 2021.
The students were supported by local stakeholders and employees from the Department of Urban Development and Construction and the associated offices.
On 19 October, they will now present their ideas at one of these intervention sites, the Chemnitz Tram Museum.
