Street tree planting on the Kaßberg
Since the beginning of this week, new street trees have been planted on Henriettenstraße, between Franz-Mehring-Straße and Erich-Mühsam-Straße, and on Weststraße, on the corner of Hübschmannstraße and Andréstraße. The planting work on Henriettenstraße is expected to be completed on 10 May and on Weststraße on 15 May.
Due to the limited space available on Henriettenstraße, a full road closure between Franz-Mehring-Straße and Erich-Mühsam-Straße will be necessary. For safety reasons and to ensure that the work can be carried out quickly, the full closure will last approximately one week. Residents and users are asked for their understanding.
After the pavements in the above-mentioned street areas were repaired in recent years and old street trees had to be felled due to their very poor condition, new street trees are now being planted in the newly created tree discs. Nine lime trees will be planted on Henriettenstrasse and three maple trees on Weststrasse. Seven trees will be planted in Hoffmannstraße.
Following the planting work, the new street trees will be maintained and developed until October 2020.
The total costs for planning, construction and planting services, including two years of maintenance, amount to approx. 23,500 euros.
Landscape architect Petra Rosenblatt, Hainichen, was commissioned with the planning and Reino GmbH, Geithain, with the execution.
