Street in Bernsdorf becomes "Lise-Meitner-Straße"
At its meeting today, the city council decided that the new road between Reichenhainer Straße and Fraunhoferstraße will be named "Lise-Meitner-Straße".
The street is the former Planstrasse B in the Technology Campus South industrial estate.
Lise Meitner was one of the great physicists of the 20th century and made a significant contribution to our current understanding of matter. She contributed to groundbreaking findings in the field of nuclear physics. In keeping with the scientific profile of Chemnitz University of Technology and its integrated institutes of physics and chemistry, the street in the immediate vicinity of the university is named after the important physicist.
